Case Studies

MySejahtera
MySejahtera is Malaysia’s national digital health app which helps millions of users manage appointments, health records, vaccinations, and access essential care services all in one place.
MySejahtera was launched in 2020 as a national COVID-19 app to manage the outbreak. It was instrumental in enabling the Malaysian government to conduct population-scale disease surveillance, contact tracing, remote monitoring, vaccinations, and risk communication.
MySejahtera is not only a digital front door for citizens and residents but also a provider platform for over 8,000 health facilities, supporting the National Immunization Program, National Health Screening, community health screenings, and Hajj health examinations. More than 2,000 public health facilities, including dental clinics, use the appointments feature daily.
- Over 5 million COVID-19 high risk categories remotely monitored
- Over 75 million digital COVID-19 vaccinations recorded, with digital certificates issued
- Over 4 Million health screening records captured electronically
- Public health teams use the platform to manage tuberculosis care plans nationwide
- Malaysian Hajj pilgrims' health records issued as an International Patient Summary (IPS) on Hajj Health Card in line with GDHCN standards
GDHCN Validator
GDHCN-Validator.net is a tool created for the GDHCN community of practice to create, test, and validate implementations, ensuring compliance with the latest WHO specifications. The GDHCN Validator is onboarded on the WHO GDHCN development environment as a test country with the code “XM.” By default, Verifiable Digital Health Certificates issued through the tool are signed using country XM’s private key.
The Global Digital Health Certification Network (GDHCN) is a digital public health infrastructure developed by WHO. It enables patient-mediated, cross-border interoperability of health records by leveraging the International Patient Summary (IPS) and FHIR health data standards. WHO has published an onboarding guide for member states to join the GDHCN.
AdeaHub has developed a reference implementation for the Hajj digital health card as per Smart IPS Pilgrimage IG from WHO. Check it out here.
Generate a Verifiable Digital Health Certificate from an IPS file
Users can set a passcode, specify an expiry time, and sign the certificate with their own key
Validate a Verifiable Digital Health Certificate
The tool fetches the public key from the GDHCN public registry to verify the signature and retrieves the IPS in both JSON and PDF formats
The GDHCN Validator tool is integrated with IHE’s testbed, Gazelle, for testing the interoperability of eHealth systems

Reaya
Reaya was launched in 2020, in partnership with Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP), Du Telecom and Emirates Health Services (EHS).
COVID-19 high-risk cases were remotely monitored using the system across the UAE. Reaya onboarded law enforcement agencies nationwide to monitor cases in their jurisdictions in real time, enabling swift action.
Reaya used GPS-based geo-fencing to monitor the movements of infected populations and helped manage the response.
- Multi-lingual app available in both Android and IOS
- Integrated with MOHAP systems for end-to-end outbreak management
- Dashboards for police and law enforcement to monitor cases
- Push-based notifications to deliver timely information and suggested actions
